The CX Concept Excavator is a futuristic eco excavator that is slated for release on the market in 2018. Ecology, safety, usability, and efficiency are the main keywords used to describe it. These keywords have been conceptually integrated into the innovative design as new themes for the construction equipment.

The CX Concept Excavator provides optimal functioning in various extreme working environments and emphasises energy efficiency as well as high performance. This innovative concept design looks to the future of Doosan Infracore products and envisages synergy with the development of the brand image through the close cooperation between designers and engineers.

The formal expression of the CX Concept Excavator is a dynamic combination of durability and sophistication. It is designed to express the machine’s durability as a piece of construction equipment as well as give a sophisticated physical image. In order to convey these expressions, its form (comprising curves and chamfers) is accentuated with a two-tone color combination suggestive of a high-tech image.

Safety
The hydraulic pipe covers on the front of the CX Concept Excavator protect the hardware – such as the boom, the cylinders, and the hydraulic pipes – from the impact of falling objects. The covers simplify the look of the excavator and give it a clean and hi-tech appearance. Safety cameras and sensors mounted along the orange part of the body improve visibility and allow the operator to be immediately aware of people or objects within the vicinity.

Efficiency
The sliding cabin ensures improved visibility of the ground level from the cabin space. The extendable counterweight maintains stability and the optimal balance of the body, and also increases the loading capacity. The terrain scanner assigns a certain working area to the excavator in order to automatically execute unmanned operations. Currently, one of the most promising technologies is closely related to energy efficiency and the guidelines of international environmental standards; the hybrid power system reduces emissions, noise, and fuel costs.

Usability
Hyper-emotional digital technology is employed. The innovative instrumental panel, control stand, and other display devices are integrated into the seat to provide ease of control and convenience. The haptic control system and interior lighting effect play a role in the visualisation of the futuristic image and the interactive interface. The high display and transparent instrument panel enable users to obtain both visibility and good awareness of information. The intelligent solar-control glass is able to adjust the transparency level or colour according to the weather conditions, sensing visible rays and ultraviolet rays. The large window provides users with wider vision from the interior of the cabin.

The traditional joystick is replaced by an interactive multifunctional control system. Users can customise their working mode or sitting position individually to provide intuitive, simplified user environments. The stable seat decreases the vibration of the machine penetrating into the cabin space to alleviate fatigue caused by the vibration.

Adaptability
The independent crawler (with an internal motor) hangs from the swing arm to provide much greater manoeuvrability and stability on the rough and uneven ground. The articulated joint structure increases stability for both moving and standstill situations. The intelligent, independent suspension provides less vibration and, thus, offers a comfortable ride for operator.
