The Energy Ball uses piezoelectric material to convert impact energy into electricity that can power an attachable reading light.
Piezoelectric substances can convert mechanical signals into electrical signals, and vice versa. So, when the Energy Ball is kicked, it will be recharged by converting impact energy to electric energy through piezo elements in the ball. Simply put, the user can create electricity by playing with the Energy Ball. Electricity, which is recharged by kicking, is collected inside the ball and it can be used as electric power for a light bulb that couples with the ball. The Energy Ball could be particularly useful in the third world, which has chronic shortages of electricity. Children who play with the Energy Ball by day could study with it by night. |
