A solution to excessive advertisements on subway platforms, this see-through Information LED provides effective placement of advertisements and information on the doors of subway trains.
The huge number of commercial advertisements and information displayed on subway billboards could be seen as obstructive and imposing. The high number of advertisements flooding high traffic areas has the potential to cause disorientation, particularly in children, tourists and the elderly. One of the areas identified for effective delivery of information to the public is the entrance/exit doors of trains. Being in the area where people wait to get on and off the train, this area has the advantage of easily capturing commuters’ attention.
This see-through Information LED (light-emitting diode) could replace conventional train doors. The Information LED could also beinstalled as train windows to display information or decorative graphics, while still performing the window function. Information displayed could range from the subway’s history, information on tours, news headlines, or the weather report. This would provide interesting and fun visuals for commuters, especially when the train travels underground or when night falls.
