Dual is a dual-purpose piece of furniture that draws its form and function from traditional Chinese lifestyles.

The bench has always been essential to the Chinese way of life. In old times, people would have meals, play chess, chat, or take naps on it. As time has marched on, the styles of benches and chairs may have been transformed, but their nature still remains the same. This project aimed to learn from the past in order to create a piece of furniture with a new spirit, which merges with our modern life and allows a more flexible use of space. Dual uses the traditional tongue-and-groove joint method to enhance its durability and safety. It transforms between a chair and table through a simple adjustment of the parts.
