Octopus Pet is a floatation device with the secondary function of teaching children about recycling.

One can always find empty plastic bottles discarded at the beach. Octopus Pet makes clever use of them to achieve several outcomes. Made with coated silicon, Octopus Pet works as a safe and cute toy for active kids. Children pick up empty plastic bottles littering the seashore and fix them at the connection points where the legs of the octopus should be. Fixing 1.5L plastic bottles on Octopus Pet creates buoyancy strong enough to make a grown man float.

Aside from the floatation function, the benefits of Octopus Pet can be many. The plastic bottles now look like the legs of an octopus, and this will encourage children’s sensibility to grow. People on vacation find a new use for their dis-used, empty plastic bottles, and this also helps to prevent pollution. If children need empty plastic bottles in order to use the toy, they will be less likely to throw away their empty plastic bottles on the beach. All the attached plastic bottles can be retrieved and recycled. This action can be repeated until children realise the importance of saving the environment. Curious children can catch fish and crabs, or pick up empty shells and observe them within the plastic bottle. This action will nurture children's observation abilities.
