Danny Venlet

Danny Venlet, born in Australia, studied applied computer sciences at the University of Brussels before changing to the Hogeschool Sint-Lucas, the institute for architecture and arts in Brussels and Gent from which he graduated with distinction in 1983. Thereafter, he gained his professional experience e.g. at Peter Sands, Inarc design and documentation NZI, Raine and Horne NAB, Arab Australia NAB and Rice and Daubney Architects. Following his cooperation with Neil Burley (1988) and Marc Newson (1988 to 1990), he eventually opened up his own studio, Venlet Interior Architecture, in 1991. His design projects range from private houses, lofts, bars, exhibitions and restaurants all the way to showrooms and offices of large companies such as Timberland or Siemens.

Time and again, Danny Venlet can be found with his works at trade shows and exhibitions, such as the Milano Furniture Fair, the Hannover Messe, in the Museum voor Kunst en Geschiedenis in Brussels, or at the State of Design Festival, Design from Flanders, in Melbourne. Venlet also received recognition at various design contests, including the Good Design Award, USA, the Henry van de Velde Award, Belgium, the iF design award and several red dot design awards, both in Germany. In the past, Venlet passed on his experience as interior architect to students at several schools and universities in Belgium and Australia, such as the University of Sydney, the Royal Australian Institute of Architects in Sydney as well as the Hogeschool Sint-Lucas, the institute for architecture and arts in Brussels and Gent.
